The Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge, the third bridge over the Bosphorus, was opened in 2016.

Designed to carry both road and rail on the same deck, the bridge was built as one of the widest suspension bridges of its time and formed part of the Northern Marmara Motorway route. The project is among the large-scale transportation infrastructure investments aimed at relieving Istanbul's traffic burden and providing a crossing through the north of the city.
