Young Turk Revolution — Second Constitutional Era

The Second Constitutional Era was proclaimed in 1908 in the Ottoman State when Sultan Abdülhamid II, as a result of pressures led by the Committee of Union and Progress, reinstated the Constitution (Kanun-ı Esasi) of 1876.

The Chamber of Deputies (Meclis-i Mebusan) was reopened and a return to constitutional order took place. However, the period passed turbulently, with internal political conflicts, the 31 March Incident of 1909, and the military intervention that followed. The Second Constitutional Era coincides with a period of the political struggles of the empire's final years.
