Italy Enters WWI

1915 CE · İtalya · political

In 1915, Italy, which had initially remained neutral, entered the First World War on the side of the Entente Powers.

Italy, which had previously been part of the Triple Alliance, changed sides in line with secret negotiations conducted before the war and expectations of territorial gains. With this decision, Italy opened a long and exhausting front, particularly against Austria-Hungary in the Alpine and Isonzo regions; this front became one of the important theaters of conflict for the remainder of the war.
