Dog Domestication

This process took place through the gradual rapprochement of wild populations descended from the gray wolf (Canis lupus) with hunter-gatherer communities. Archaeological and genetic findings show that domestication dates back to the end of the Ice Age, tens of thousands of years ago. Dogs became important helpers of humans in hunting, protection, and herd management.
