Founding of the Gupta Empire (Golden Age of India)

The empire brought the greater part of northern India under its rule. The Gupta period is referred to as the 'Golden Age' of Indian history for its developments in mathematics, astronomy, literature, and art. Contributions such as the concept of zero and the development of the decimal number system are attributed to this period.
