The Ottoman-Russian War of 1877-1878 is known in Ottoman sources, according to the Rumi calendar, as the War of '93 (93 Harbi).

Fought on the Balkan and Caucasus fronts, the war ended in the defeat of the Ottoman Empire and led to the preliminary Treaty of San Stefano (Ayastefanos / Yeşilköy). The war produced major humanitarian consequences; intense waves of migration occurred in particular from the Balkans and the Caucasus. The outcomes of the process were later reconsidered at the Congress of Berlin.
